Coach Jeff Berghoff Head Coach

Jeff has been coaching at Moon and dedicated to aquatics programming in the Moon community since 2017. He has over 20 years of coaching experience that encompasses involvement with USA Swimming, Allegheny Mountain Swimming, Pennsylvania High School/Varsity and Middle School swimming, and collegiate level swim programs. Throughout his career, Jeff has achieved unprecedented levels of success over the years. 

As an Assistant Head Coach for Women’s Swimming at the University of Pittsburgh, Jeff had swimmers represented and participated in 6 NCAA Championships, he had 1 NCAA Honorable Mention All-American, and 6 athletes place in the prestigious Varsity Walk. During his time at Pitt, Jeff was also the Head Coach for Team Pittsburgh Aquatics. Jeff produced eight swimmers that qualified in the National Age Group Top-16, 26 Eastern Zones All-Star Competitors, and he coached multiple P.I.A.A State Championship qualifiers and champions. While coaching at Oakland Catholic High School, Jeff produced two individual State Champions, 16 NISCA High School All-Americans, and the 1999 PIAA Class AA State Championship Team. Additionally, Jeff has coached at Junior Nationals and Sectionals, and had four Summer Super Sectional Team Champions. He has been coaching athletes at the summer Senior Nationals since 2002, and he has coached at the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Olympic Trials.

Jeff is strongly proficient in operating high-level swim meets.  He operated as the Meet Director for all USA Swimming meets that ran at the University of Pitt, including the annual Christmas Meet – one of the largest Age Group meets in the country – and the 2011 USA Swimming Summer Speedo Champions Meet.

Jeff earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Carnegie Mellon University in 1994. Jeff resides in Moon Township, PA, and he has three sons and a daughter-in-law.

Coach Emily Rash Assistant Coach

Coach Emily is an assistant coach for Tiger Aquatics. Coach Emily has an extensive swimming history from childhood through the collegiate level and has continued to follow her passion as an accomplished US Masters Swimmer where she won the U.S. Masters Swimming National Championships in the 200 backstroke this summer.  Coach Emily has continued to give back to the swimming community thorough her continued passion to coach swimming in the Moon community for the past few years.  She has 2 sons: Thomas is in college at the University of Utah and Garrett is a senior attending Moon Area High School and also a member of the high school swim team. Emily competed for the prestigious Mercersburg Academy and went onto compete and graduate from the   University of Richmond. She currently resides with her husband and youngest son in Moon Township.  

Coach Josiah Panizzi Assistant Coach

Josiah is currently a student at Liberty University and in his 5th year coaching, lifeguarding & teaching lessons in the Moon area. He has served as an assistant for the Moon Area Middle School for four seasons. He has also taught in the lessons program at Moon and is in his second year of being a USA Swimming Coach. Josiah was an assistant coach with the Montour Heights Country Club helping lead them to their highest finish in recent history. Josiah was a AAA State & WPIAL qualifier & two-time team captain as well as a part of the 200 Free and 400 free record breaking relays while at Moon Area High School. Josiah is excited to be apart of Tiger Aquatics!

Coach Kate Elkins Assistant Coach

Coach Kate started swimming when she was five years old for Chanticleer Swim Club, where she was later also an assistant swim coach. She swam for Moon Middle School and High School as well as Moon Aqua Club where she worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor.  Upon graduation, she attended Penn State Beaver earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology and began coaching with Moon Aqua Club.  She coached for Steel City Aquatics for almost four years.  She was the head coach of the Crafton Crocodiles for two seasons, where she lead the team to back-to-back league championships. She currently works for the Beaver County Sheriff’s office.  Coach Kate is extremely excited to continue coaching!

Katie Scott Assistant Coach

Coach Katie started swimming with the YMCA when she was little.  She swam for Montour High School, where she took second at states in the 100 fly and set several school records, many of which still stand today. She went on to swim at California University of Pennsylvania, earning All-American honors. Over the years, Coach Katie has coached with the JCC, MAC, and other local teams, sharing a love of the sport with swimmers of all ages. When not on deck, she still enjoys racing in masters swimming and staying connected to the sport she loves.
